The theme for VBS 2022 is Make Waves! We think it's possible for kids and volunteers to create a ripple effect that can impact the world around them in ways they will never forget.
God put you onto this planet to do the same thing-to make waves.

We have partnered with Soles4Souls this year, for our VBS Mission. Soles4Souls turns unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use - providing relief, creating jobs, and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty, all over the world. Our goal is for every child to donate 10 pairs of shoes (gently used) by the end of Day 4! This is a great time to clean out closets, ask friends, neighbors, and relatives for gently worn shoe donations.  God made people with a purpose, we can use that purpose to help people around the world by bringing in shoes.

Make Waves VBS FAQ: 

• What is the age minimum/maximum for VBS 2022 child registration?




• PK (age 4) thru 6th grade for the 2022-2023 school year.

• Does my child need to bring anything for VBS?




• Yes! Water bottle labeled with their first and last name each day.


• Snacks will be provided each day.


• Shoe donations for Soles4Souls.

Dates, times, location, expectations:

• Where is VBS? 




• Our address is 3501 E. Elms Rd, Killeen, TX 76542. 


• The office phone number is 254-634-6363. Church office hours are M-Th 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.


• For VBS emergencies call Brandy Boudreaux, the Director of Children’s Ministries, on her cell phone 480-292-1036 (texts are best, I can’t always hear my phone during the event). 


• There is only 1 entrance and exit for VBS. Everyone will enter and exit by the Church Office doors. Please look for the signs showing you the way once you enter the church parking lot. 




• VBS Dates and Times: 




• Monday-Thursday July 18-21, 2022. The event is from 9am -12 Noon.


• Day 1 (7/18/22) 




• Opening: Registration starts at 8:30am, the event starts at 9am. The first day is always hectic, thank you in advance for your patience.


• Follow the signs to the registration desk. 


• The registration attendant will verify the parent's contact information, emergency contact information, and approved adults to pick up your child.




• Day 2-4 Opening: Registration starts at 8:45am. 


• Day 1-4 Closing: 




• Pick up starts at 12 Noon. Only those on the approved list can take a child out of the building.


• We will ask for identification, please be prepared. Thank you for helping us to keep the kids safe.


• Day 4 (Thursday 7/21) at 11:45am All parents are invited to attend our closing ceremony! 

• When do I pay the Registration Fee?




• Please pay the registration fee as soon as possible. You can drop off a check or cash to the church office Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm. 


• Please make sure to note on the check or cash envelope: VBS and [CHILD’S FIRST/LAST NAME]. 




• Are scholarships available?




• We do not want money to be a barrier for any family! Scholarships have been lovingly donated by our congregants. Please email our Director of Children’s Ministries at  brandy.boudreaux@fumc-killeen.org for details. 

First Aid, Allergies, Masking, Safety Policies:

• Food Allergies, Asthma, Seasonal Allergies & VBS:




• Children with severe allergies or asthma will get a wristband at the registration desk each day.


• NO PEANUT/TREE NUTS ALLOWED. We are taking this step out of an abundance of caution for kids with peanut and tree nut allergies. 


• *Epi Pens and inhalers see below




• How are medications and First Aid handled during VBS?




• *If your child uses an Epi Pen for emergencies please contact our Director of Children’s Ministries brandy.boudreaux@fumc-killeen.org.


• A first aid kit is available at the registration desk at all times. We are equipped to handle cuts, bumps, and bruises.


• We will NOT give oral medication to kids during the event. If your child requires oral medication during the event, please contact our Director of Children’s Ministries at brandy.boudreaux@fumc-killeen.org.


• If your child needs a rescue inhaler, please bring one for your child. Contact our Director of Children’s Ministries brandy.boudreaux@fumc-killeen.org .


• We are not responsible for lost Epi Pen’s or inhalers. Please label everything with Child’s First and Last Name and DOB.


• Our goal is to keep everyone safe and healthy!




• Does my child have to wear a mask?




• Policies regarding masks will be made available closer to the date of the event. Thank you for your understanding! 




• Safety and VBS:




• Our first priority is the safety of all the kids and volunteers attending Make Waves VBS 2022!


• Our volunteers have been trained in the latest safety and cleaning protocols.


• Everyone that enters a room will be given hand sanitizer and we will wash hands at every opportunity.




• What are the masking and safety policies at FUMC, Killeen?




• We are following all CDC guidelines and will make a clearer determination closer to the event.
